About the Role
The implementation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is Western Health’s next step towards significantly improving and transforming the way we provide care for our community and patients. Western Health’s EMR will provide clinicians with a consolidated view of all relevant information about the patient to facilitate teamwork reduce medical errors and support clinical decision making. It will also simplify and support clinician workflow, and provide access to best practice knowledge, empowering our clinicians with the tools to enhance the delivery of Best Care.
Phase one of Western Health’s 7 - 10 year EMR journey will deliver:
- structured clinical notes,
- medications prescribing and administration,
- pathology and radiology orders and results; and
- A supporting core system.

Duties
The EMR Device Lead is responsible for the inventory, gap analysis, procurement, installation, and testing of all end user devices needed for the Western Health EMR implementation. Working closely with the EMR Technical Manager, the EMR Director and the ICT Operations team, the individual will carry out the device plan following the successful roll out of the following devices:
- Workstations on Wheels
- Laptops and handheld devices
- Barcode Scanners
- 724 Down time viewers
- Cerner printing including
- Controlled stationary printing
- Specimen label printers
- Wristband printers
There is an expectation that this role will transition into a permanent role within the EMR support team once the EMR project has gone live.
