About the Role

Western Health, one of the largest providers of maternity services in Australia, is looking to appoint enthusiastic & experienced sessional maternal fetal medicine specialists. These positions will support the transition to a Level 6 (Tertiary) maternity service in Victoria with the opening of the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s in mid-2019.

An exciting opportunity exists for an appropriately skilled obstetrician with advanced training in Maternal Fetal Medicine (RANZCOG Certificate of Maternal Fetal Medicine or equivalent) to join the dynamic multidisciplinary Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit at Sunshine Hospital.

The MFM unit provides maternity care for the most complex patients including the full range of fetal and maternal medical disorders. This position will provide inpatient and outpatient services within the unit. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to combine ultrasound scanning with patient consultation in a range of different high risk settings including multiple pregnancies, cervical surveillance, fetal medicine, maternal medicine and postnatal and pre-pregnancy counselling. The unit is supported by an established Genetics and Fetal cardiology service. The Sunshine Hospital MFM Unit actively participates in a range of national and international multicentred trials and has ample research opportunities to support the career ambitions of a MFM Subspecialist. This position will play a pivotal role in the progression to a tertiary obstetric service with the opening of the Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s Hospital in 2019.
