Position Summary

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Western Health has created the role of the Clinical Assistant is to assist in clinical roles where they perform duties to ensure the clinical operations of the Unit/Department/Ward function smoothly.

Clinical Assistants are directly supervised and do not undertake clinical duties without direct oversight.

A daily roster will be developed for both the Sunshine and Footscray Hospital sites. Clinical Assistants will report at the start of their shift to a local supervisor who will allocate them to one of the broad duty categories according to demand.

These broad duty categories include:

  • Assisting in the COVID-19 Respiratory Assessment Clinic
  • Assist with screening of visitors/staff on entry to work
  • Non-clinical duties as prescribed by allocated clinical unit
  • Other duties will arise but Western Health will not place any Clinical Assistant in an unsafe environment. Western Health will also provide appropriate training (i.e. EMR, PPE) to successful applicants.
