About the Role

Western Health is seeking a Director for our Drug Health Services.  The Director is responsible for the operational, clinical and strategic direction of the service. This includes: operational budget management; oversight of staff recruitment, retention and development (91.8 FTE); management of associated assets; development of strategic relationships both internal and external to Western Health. This includes providing expert advice and support for the development of policy, planning, co-ordination and evaluation of addiction treatment services both within Western Health and to the broader community AOD service system. The Director of Drug Health Services will also lead the development of an AOD research, training and education strategy to Western Health and the community.

This role has oversight over the Dual Diagnosis Residential Rehabilitation Unit (Westside Lodge), the Community Residential Withdrawal Unit, Community Programs, Adolescent Community Programs and the Addiction Medicine Unit.

The Director of Drug Health Services also serves a key leadership role within the WIDAN Consortium (comprised of IPC Health, Co Health and Djerriwarrh Health Services), with oversite of budget dissemination and performance outcomes. As a member of the NorthWest Metropolitan Integrated Pharmacotherapy Network, the Director also provides support and advice to the development of a sustainable pharmacotherapy service system in the West.

Selection Criteria Desirable: • Excellent analytical and strategic skills in order to manage Drug Health Services taking into account relevant social, demographic, organisational, logistical and policy considerations
Desirable: • Demonstrated ability to manage activity and budget targets, develop and implement business plans and address quality management requirements and standards.
Desirable: • Understanding of quality requirements and standards
Desirable: • A proven track record of achievement as a senior manager in a complex health service delivery environment and demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to promote a supportive and service oriented environment
Desirable: • Experience in delivering health (hospital and community based) drug and alcohol services with demonstrated high-level communication skills including interpersonal, negotiation, representational, and consultative liaison skills.
Desirable: • Proven management and leadership skills to manage reform outcomes in the Drug and Alcohol Sector and implement Victorian Drug and Alcohol policies and plans with sound knowledge of relevant legislation.
Desirable: • Proven ability to introduce strategies to support and move staff through difficult situations and develop a safe, respectful wellbeing culture in the workforce
Desirable: • Qualifications in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
