About the Role

Western Health currently has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Western Health's Women's & Children's Division in the role of a Nurse Immuniser within the Women's & Children's Immunisation Service - Sunshine Hospital.

Women's & Children's Services at Western Health continues to expand and develop to meet the region's population growth, care complexities and demand. The service has seen significant growth over the last 4-5 years across all program areas in assisting to meet regional support requirements.

The Division is responsible for the provision of inpatient and ambulatory care across maternity, gynaecology, neonatal and paediatric services. 

Western Health Women's & Children's Immunisation Services is an exciting, new service development that will provides access for women and children living in the Western Metropolitian Region of Melbourne to immunisation services with the overall aim of the service being to improve immunisation coverage rates across the region. 

The Service is a priority in line with Western Health's Best Care Framework and the pending new Joan Kirner Women's & Children's Hospital that Western Health are leaders in service excellence. 

The Nurse Immuniser is an integeral member of the Immunisation team and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, high quality immunisation care.

The successful applicant will work in collaboration with a strongly committed team to shape the provision, subsequent service development and implementation of high quality, efficient care to patients. 

To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Be a Registered Nurse (current AHPRA registration)
  • Have successfully completed the Postgraduate certificate of a Nurse Immuniser Program recognised by the Chief Health Officer
  • Be competent in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Have at least 2 years experience as a Nurse Immuniser either in a hospital or community setting.
  • Demonstrate high energy levels for new service implementation and subsequent, further service development.

Selection Criteria Essential: Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
Essential: Postgraduate certificate of a Nurse Immuniser Program recognised by the Chief Health Officer
Essential: Registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
Essential: Minimum of two year’s full-time or equivalent experience in the provision of a high quality Immunisation Service as an Accredited Nurse Immuniser
Essential: Possess excellent clinical skills and sound knowledge of immunisation practices and procedures including management of adverse events following immunisation
Essential: Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Essential: Well-developed computer literacy skills
Desirable: Demonstrated computer skills in ImPS and AIR databases
Desirable: Membership with Immunisation Nurses Special Interest Group (INSIG)
