Cardiac Cath Lab
Western Cardiac Cath labs are some of the busiest in Melbourne offering acute and elective coronary intervention and electrophysiology services. We also provide a 24 hour oncall service for acute myocardial infarct patients and pioneered a 24/7 cardiogenic shock programme in 2019. The department is supported by both Coronary and Intensive care units and a Cardiac diagnostic unit.
Skills/Experience;
- Possess a relevant post graduate qualification in Critical care
- Be able to demonstrate excellent team work and communication skills
- Be able to participate in 24 hour on call service
- Possess a passion to provide quality evidence based care
- Cath lab experience preferred not essential

Footscray
Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
The Footscray CCU is an integrated cardiac and vascular surgical unit supported by a 24hr Cath Lab and ICU. As well as managing acute cardiac conditions, the unit offers a unique model of care the Cardiac Geriatric Heart Failure service. This is a program whereby heart failure patients are cared for by a collaborative Cardiology and Geriatric Medicine approach with the cardiac nurse co-ordinating care.
Cardiac nurses at Western Health have the opportunity to;
- Work towards a Clinical Nurse Specialist position
- Participate in a supported acting ANUM rotation
- Contribute to the development of future cardiac nurses through supporting the Post Grad Diploma, Cardiac Nursing in partnership with La Trobe University.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Successful completion of Post Graduate studies in Cardiac/Critical Care Nursing
- Recent experience working in a CCU setting

Williamstown
Dialysis Unit
Our Renal team provides inpatient renal support, rapid clinical review in the Renal Rapid Review Clinic in addition to providing over 38,000 dialysis treatments each year across all Western Health Dialysis Units
The Williamstown Dialysis Service consisits of a 14-chair haemodialysis facility which provides holistic care to patients with end stage kidney disease requiring maintenance haemodialysis. The Williamstown Dialysis Service also provides a 4 chair acute dialysis service at Footscray Hospital.
Skills/Experience
- Haemodialysis experience is essential
- Experience working in an acute dialysis setting is highly desirable
Williamstown – 64 hours – Temp Part-Time until 08/2020 – Closing 6th March 2020

Emergency Department
Emergency department is an adult emergency department seeing approximately 40,000 patient presentations per year. The emergency department also manages the Emergency Observation Unit which is a 12-bed unit providing extended management for patient requiring short term observation and treatment up to 24 hours.
Skills/Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an Emergency department is essential
- Post Graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing is highly desirable
- Experience working in triage/resus is highly desirable
Williamstown – 32 hours permanent part-time – Closing 17th March 2020
