About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager is a position that provides robust clinical leadership and management expertise. They are at the forefront of providing care that is underpinned by right, safe, coordinated and high quality nursing patient care across the multidisciplinary environment of the Paediatric Unit.

Women’s and Children’s Services at Sunshine Hospital provides quality health care within a diverse community across the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Our Paediatric Unit caters for children from birth to 18 years of age. The busy 20 bed unit, with over 4600 admissions per year, provides both medical and surgical care to our Paediatric cohort of patients. Our Maternity service has a diverse birthing population with over 5,500 births per year and is still growing!

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager with outstanding clinical abilities and experience in management to continue to lead and develop our Children's Ward. Skills & Experience & Essential Criteria

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification or equivalent
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife in Australia
  • Completion of Post graduate studies in Paediatric Care or equivilent
  • Effective organisational skills, with respect to time management and delegation
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team
  • Skills and experience to manage Paediatric Unit 
  • A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care

Desirable

  • Successful completion of Graduate Certificate in Health Care Management or equivalent or working towards
