Position Summary |
This position is based over multiple sites including, Sunshine, Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s, Footscray and Williamstown Hospitals. The Ward Clerk role is responsible for the clerical and receptionist duties of the ward or clinic. This role also involves the coordination of the telecommunications and administrative traffic throughout the area.
The Ward Clerk position supports the Nursing & Medical staff on the ward with clerical aspects of patients, ward &/or clinic administration.

Duties
- Meet and greet, patients and visitors to the ward
- Enter Patient details, admissions, discharges and transfers into computer systems
- Communicating to all disciplines within the health service including patients & visitors.
- This role also involves the coordination of the telecommunications and administrative traffic throughout the area.
- Provide Daily reporting to Nursing & Medical staff
- Booking of outpatient appointments
- Ability to communicate effectively in an emotionally complex environment.
- Collate paperwork & maintenance of patient files.
- Coordinate Non-Emergency Patient Transport
- Organise interpreters
- Participate in training and educational forums/ programs
Essential Criteria
- Proven high level front line customer service skills.
- Ability to work a non-restrictive roster that includes day, afternoon, nights and weekends across all Western Health campuses
- Experience in an administration team in a cross-functional environment
- Proven strategies to manage accuracy in your daily duties
- Prior experience of high level knowledge of MS Office
- Can work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
