About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we transition to the new purpose built Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital.

The role is designed for the Registered Midwife (RM) who has extensive midwifery experience and a passion for teaching and training.  We are seeking a midwife who has the ability to utilise contemporary strategies, based on adult learning principles to effectively coordinate and facilitate educational activities within the maternity service for all midwifery staff, transition to practice midwives and undergraduate midwifery students in the clinical setting.  

In collaboration with the Maternity Services leadership team and Centre for Education, team the Clinical Midwifery Educator will ensure that services provided are woman focussed to respect the rights, needs and expectations of childbearing women.

The position is permanent and part time, working 64 hours per fortnight.

Western Health is partnered as a Registered Training Organisation with Victoria University and provides a range of management and leadership streams of study enabling professional growth in a supported environment.

The role is working in a dynamic environment with different entry to practice groups. The preference is for a clinician with previous clinical education or tertiary education support experience.

Essential Criteria

  • Possess recent clinical midwifery skills with advanced clinical knowledge.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a Registered Midwife
  • Working experience in: either post-registration qualification or clinical education role or equivalent
  • Current RANZCOG FSEP certificate at a practitioner Level 3
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Be innovative, resourceful and adaptable to change
  • Demonstrate computer literacy skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary, midwifery and education teams
