About the Role

The role is designed for a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Educator with post graduate Neonatal Intensive Care qualifications (or equivalent) who is keen to work in a new education team to assist the Western Health Newborn Services Unit to deliver Level 6A neonatal capability. We are seeking nurse educators who have the ability to utilise contemporary strategies based on adult learning principles to effectively coordinate and facilitate educational activities within the Neonatal Service.

You would be responsible for supporting and developing the Post-graduate students at Western Health and at The Women’s during NICU placement, for developing, co-ordinating, implementing and evaluating training and education programs to support the existing Newborn Serives team deliver Level 6A neonatal service, and for collaborating with the Newborn Services CNE who oversees the Newborn Services staff, Graduate Nurses, Graduate Midwives and undergraduate students who rotate through the unit. You would also be required to contribute to and/or develop and review new and existing neonatal policies, procedures and guidelines in collaboration with the Neonatal Services Development Manager and the Clinical Practice Improvement Specialist (Neonatal).

Western Health is partnered as a Registered Training Organisation with Victoria University and provides a range of management and leadership streams of study enabling professional growth in a supported environment.

The preference is for a clinician with previous clinical education or tertiary education support experience.

Skills & Experience

  • Registration as a RN or RN/RM with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Education (or equivalent) or working towards
  • Post-graduate qualification in NICU
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist or Registered Nurse/Midwife with a minimum 5 years clinical experience and extensive clinical skills in NICU
