About the Role
Full Time, fixed term (to November 2019), 80 hour fortnight with monthly ADO.
Western Health is looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Aged Care Inpatient OT team, which has services sited at Sunshine and Williamstown Hospitals. The case load mix within this speciality cohort could include inpatient Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), Secure GEM, Palliative Care, and Bed Based Transitional Care Services. The successful applicant must have well developed assessment and treatment skills in the delivery of evidence based, person centred Occupational Therapy services to a subacute aged care cohort. They will be working as part of an innovative and energetic multidisciplinary team and will be involved in the supervision of Grade 1 OT or Allied Health Assistant staff. Sound communication skills and an understanding of Aged Care Occupational Performance issues are essential for this position.
Duties
- Ensure safe and high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies
- Manage the workload and allocation on a daily basis
- Working collaboratively with the Grade 3 OT, NUM and other Allied Health Staff to facilitate patient flow through the unit
- Contribute to ongoing learning and education for Grade 1 and AHA staff including direct supervision
Essential Criteria
- Successful completion of a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy qualification or equivalent
- Current registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist in Australia
- Possess excellent clinical and organisation skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
