Are you an experienced, results-driven Sustainability Engineer, looking for a challenge that will have a tangible impact in the world of health services?
Western Health (WH) is responsible for a large portfolio of buildings, plant and equipment – medical and non-medical.
With an asset and buildings portfolio of $2bn, we have an important responsibility to the Department of Health and the communities we serve.
WH Strategic Direction 2021-2023 has established Sustainability as a key designing principle in all our business activities. The Chief Sustainability Officer, Sustainability Program Manager and Sustainability Coordinator will form a strong, focused Project team appointed expressly to deliver the Sustainability Plan and following objectives:
1. Embed Sustainability as a core aspect of Western Health business.
2. Create a clear path to achieve NZE by 2050.
3. Incorporate climate change action as a part of Western Health corporate responsibility.
4. Continuous discovery, research and Innovation.
This program will consistently deliver Sustainability projects aimed at creating systematic, measured and data-driven improvement in performance and practices across WH business portfolio.
The Sustainability Coordinator will support the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of WH’s Sustainability Strategy and initiatives to improve environmental outcomes across the organisation. The role will facilitate Western Health to achieve its environmental legislative and reporting requirements and actively seek opportunities to improve environmental performance. The Sustainability Officer will work closely with the Sustainability and operational teams, stakeholders and all staff to analyse needs, implement and evaluate sustainable environmental systems.

Selection Criteria |
Essential: Bachelor’s Qualification in Engineering, Science: statistics, mathematics, data science, or equivalent Essential: 5 years’ experience in applied sustainability in large facilities, asset management or asset-intensive environments such as Health, transport, manufacturing, power, oil & gas, mining, telecommunications or equivalent. Essential: Proficiency in providing technical advice to drive operational and sustainable best practice Essential: Proficiency in effectively delivering projects on time and on budget Essential: Ability to carry out technical data analysis and result interpretation from large combined datasets Essential: Ability to execute carbon accounting assessments in compliance with the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard Essential: Proficiency at effectively solving problems through creative thinking that leads to innovative solutions Essential: Demonstrated ability in implementing business-driven solutions and applied sustainability of business operations Essential: Ability to create, support and develop smart automations for data reporting. Essential: Excellent written abilities to prepare documentation, reports and presentations Essential: Excellent communication skills that enable effective liaison with stakeholders, facilitates coordination and lead multi-cultural groups to achieve common goals Essential: Ability to carry out investigation and develop research papers and publications Desirable: Ability to implement agile project management methodologies (SCRUM) in project delivery within an Engineering Environment. Desirable: Project Management experience within a Health Sector environment Desirable: Ability to create, support and develop smart automations and programming for data reporting |
