About the Role

We are seeking an experienced psychologist (health or clinical) to join the dynamic multidisciplinary team at Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). CBR is an outpatient rehabilitation service offering a client focused, goal directed, multidisciplinary rehabilitation program for clients living in the community who have experienced injury or illness that requires the professional input of a multidisciplinary team.

The psychology service provides therapy to clients on an individual basis or in groups. Group therapies are available for several diagnostic categories including; stroke, chronic pain, cardiac and pulmonary conditions, as well as people with high falls risk. Other groups may run as required.

The position offers the opportunity to work in an exciting interdisciplinary outpatient rehabilitation setting with clients with a range of diagnoses (neurological and musculoskeletal, including pain) as well as age groups and cultural backgrounds. The multidisciplinary team are enthusiastic and value the contribution psychologists make to the clients achieving their goals. 

Duties include:

  • Deliver effective, evidence based, psychological interventions to a diverse range of clients with a variety of psychological issues to support the goal attainment of these clients.
  • Contribute to the allied health team in their provision of treatment as required, including handover, attendance at case conference, family meetings and discharge planning.
  • Provide timely documentation regarding contacts with clients and other professionals.
  • Participate in regular supervision.
  • Assist with triage of new client referrals as required.
  • Provide mentorship to Provisional Psychologists on placement, where appropriate.
  • Participate in Quality or Research activities, meetings and committees as required.
  • Maintain and document all mandatory training and statistical reporting.
  • Ensure safe and high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies.
  • Contribute to the decisions that shape our health service.

Skills & Experience

  • Possession of master’s level degree or above in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Health Psychology
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society and relevant college(s)
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and endorsement in Clinical or Health Psychology or undertaking Board approved supervision program towards Endorsement.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in the field of adult clinical (or clinical health) psychology
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team as well as liaise and consult with a range of clients, carers, professionals and community agencies as an independent clinician
  • A high level of written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills, and the ability to generate strategies for prioritising workloads effectively.
  • A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred care
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
