About the Role
Paediatric Career Opportunity with the opening of the new Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2019, we will be able to provide tertiary maternity and neonatal care.
Come join our team to share this unique and exciting journey as we transition to a tertiary hospital.Applications are invited from dynamic and enthusiastic Paediatric Registrars for positions at Sunshine Hospital and the new Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital for 2019.
Positions available for 2019:
- 6 or 12 month combined General Paediatrics and Neonatology (the positions are accredited for Advanced Paediatric training)
*We will consider requests for job sharing.
Recently we have made significant changes to our paediatric registrar and HMO rosters. There are now at least 3 paediatric registrars in the hospital 24/7. Consultant (General Paediatrician and Neonatologist) support is available 24/7.
Further significant staffing additions are planned for 2019.
The Facts:
Sunshine Hospital delivers 500 babies a month. The current Special Care Nursery is buzzing with activities, caring for up to 24 babies every day. Some of these babies may require CPAP or high dependency neonatal care. The current 25-bed Children's Ward provides medical and surgical care for children and adolescents. Over 26,000 children are seen in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Sunshine Hospital each year (with opening of the new hospital these numbers will rise). The opportunities for training and learning in the Outpatient Setting are abundant with children attending Cardiology, Endocrinology, Adolescent Medicine, Dermatology, Orthopaedics, and General Surgical clinics.
The positions will suit paediatric trainees wanting an opportunity to develop skills in General Paediatrics and Neonatology in a supportive environment, with a focus on the development of independent practice.
