As a Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse you will be a valued and integral member of the Western Health multidisciplinary team demonstrating flexibility in caring for clients and their families across the AOD service. This team values personal, professional and academic experience with staff working together, supporting each other, engaging in reflective practice whilst being accountable to the service users at all levels.

The Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse primary focus is to provide health care interventions to clients undergoing Non Residential Alcohol and Other Drug Withdrawal. The successful Non-residential Withdrawal Nurse/ Clinical consultant is a member of a small cohesive team which works together to offer a therapeutic recovery environment, providing a range of therapeutic groups and related activities for women, within a Therapeutic Day Rehabilitation model.

The Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse will provide nursing support to people undergoing withdrawal, reduction and/or stabilization from drugs or alcohol in an outpatient/outreach capacity.  The Non-Residential Withdrawal Registered Nurse role includes clinical assessment and management, psychosocial support, and discharge planning into and out of our rehabilitation program also including (where applicable), referral to and shared care models with community service providers.  The Non-Residential Withdrawal service also includes the provision of information, education and support to the person’s family, other caregivers or support persons.

The Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse acts as a primary clinical resource in drug and alcohol for clinicians within Drug Health Services Women’s & Children’s rehabilitation program. The role also encompasses the provision of the provision of a post withdrawal support service to clients exiting residential withdrawal facilities; the provision of blood borne virus pre and post – test counselling and support if accredited.  

This is a part-time fixed term position until 30th June 2018.
