About the role

Seeking a Registered Nurse with current acute nursing experience to join the CCU Discovery Program.

Western Health CCU is seeking RN’s with outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills who are interested in experiencing what CCU has to offer. The position is temporary (12 month) part time at 64hrs per fortnight, and includes 6 structured study days and a supernumerary day in our Cardiac Cath lab. Successful completion of this program offers ongoing opportunity for consolidation and a pathway toward the Postgraduate Diploma of Cardiac nursing. Applicants are expected to show a keen interest in their ongoing professional development and a mastery of the nursing basics. 

  • Experience nursing on a Coronary Care Unit
  • 7 paid study days
  • Support of a unit based educator

Duties

  • Participate in education from shift to shift as well as formal education days, some self-directed learning also required.
  • Participate in clinical hurdles including online modules and an exam.
  • Shift work including nights, at Footscray and Sunshine CCUs.
  • Provide exceptional care to patients in Cardiac Care setting.
  • Ensure safe and high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies

Essential criteria

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor or Nursing qualification or equivalent
  • Current acute nursing experience.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
  • Possess excellent clinical and organisation skills.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
