About the Role

The Clinical Midwife Educator role is a valued member of the Centre for Education Team.

The role is designed for the Registered Midwife (RM) who has extensive midwifery experience in all maternity areas and a passion for teaching and training.  We are seeking a midwife who has the ability to utilise contemporary strategies, based on adult learning principles to effectively coordinate and facilitate educational activities within maternity service for all nursing/midwifery staff, transition to practice nurse/midwives and undergraduate nurse/midwifery students in the clinical setting.  

In collaboration with the Maternity Services leadership team and Centre for Education team the Clinical Midwife Educator will ensure that services provided are focussed on respecting the rights, needs and expectations of patients and their family.

The position is permanent and part time, working 64hrs per fortnight within a team of Clinical Midwife Educators for the Centre of Education.  All Clinical Educators are assigned as lead educator/s for a maternity unit but will be rotating to all units in maternity services, therefore require experience across the pregnancy continuum.

Western Health is partnered as a Registered Training Organisation with Victoria University and provides a range of management and leadership streams of study enabling professional growth in a supported environment.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment with different entry to practice groups. The preference is for a clinician with previous clinical education or tertiary education support experience.
