About the Role

This role is part-time (negotiable up to 0.8FTE) and fixed-term until June 2025.

We’re looking for a dynamic Nurse Practitioner to join the team at Western Health Drug Health Services (DHS). This Specialist Addiction Service offers innovative and diverse programs for people across the development lifespan, with youth and adult programs, as well as specialist programs for women and for people with co-morbid AOD and mental health care needs.  Nurse Practitioners at DHS provide specialist support to numerous AOD services across community outpatient and hospital inpatient settings including residential withdrawal and residential rehabilitation units.  

The Nurse Practitioner will use advanced clinical nursing skills to deliver high quality AOD assessment and treatment to clients and families of DHS. This role also holds the following key components, working across the spectrum of potential AOD presentations:

  • screening 
  • clinical assessment 
  • brief intervention, harm reduction 
  • motivational interviewing 
  • commencement of appropriate AOD treatments 
  • linkage into appropriate community and/or hospital-based addiction treatment services 

The Nurse Practitioner role is grounded in the nursing profession’s values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers. 

The Nurse Practitioner will be supported in achieving appropriate clinical experience and will be offered supervision.

  • Recognised qualifications as an Addiction Medicine Practitioner;
