About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the senior leadership team at Western Health and be involved in some important projects related to the integration between acute and primary care in the West.

The Manager, General Practice Integration is responsible for the ongoing development, promotion and management of General Practice Integration. Working in conjunction with Western Health’s General Practice Advisor, the Manager, General Practice Integration will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of activities, initiatives and projects that support the work of the Unit.

General Practice Integration is responsible for delivering activities to support and strengthen the interface between Western Health and general practice, including communication with general practitioners which is an important aspect of patient safety. General Practice Integration is involved in a variety of activities in its role as the main point of contact for general practitioners (GPs) about the health service, as well as providing advice to internal departments about working with, and communicating with GPs. The role also provides support to the Primary Care and Population Health Advisory Committee, which is a sub-Committee of the Western Health Board, and covers an array of important topics with broad and senior-level organisational members.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in a health related discipline, with relevant health care experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Project management experience including project planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Experience working in/with the general practice sector
  • Sound understanding of the acute and primary care interface
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with respect to new initiatives and opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and liaise with external agencies
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to produce, minutes, agendas, briefing papers and reports
