The Division of Emergency, Medicine and Access is seeking a Manager for Respiratory, Sleep & Neurophysiology Diagnostics.

The Grade 4 Medical Science role is responsible for the provision of high quality patient care and technical excellence throughout all of the reporting laboratory areas.

The Manager fulfils key accountabilities including the development of the clinical area business plan in conjunction with Heads of Units and in line with the Divisional business plan. This involves the coordination and management of the daily activity of the clinical area, patient throughput, budget, facilities and equipment, staff recruitment and retention, performance management, coordination of staff development programs and management of portfolios.

The Department of Respiratory & Sleep Disorders Medicine is a busy subspecialty unit of Western Health performing clinical services, research and teaching within the organisation. The Department admits approximately 1400 inpatients per annum and manages an inpatient unit at both Sunshine & Footscray specialising in non-invasive ventilation.

The Sleep Disorders Unit performs approximately 2,000 sleep studies per annum and these include both laboratory based and portable studies at home. The sleep laboratory performs diagnostic, treatment (CPAP/Bi Pap/Oxygen) and split studies with TCO2 monitoring if required. The unit also provides support to patients with CPAP clinics, APAP trials and light therapy devices.

To be Successful in this Role you

• Have a Bachelor of Applied Science (or similar) with relevant majors 
• Have relevant clinical and management expertise in at least one specialty diagnostic area
• Have a BRPT, CRFS or similar Neurophysiology
• Have had significant involvement in implementing/maintaining laboratory quality systems
• Possess effective leadership skills, with a self-motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic attitude
