About the Role

The Network and Unified Communications Administrator plays a pivotal role within Western Health as the position provides efficient, effective and sustainable management of Western Health’s network infrastructure.  The candidate will support project and business as usual activities.

This position is responsible for providing implementation, maintenance and support of network systems and communications such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Internet, paging, voice, video, firewall and security, and other communications systems.  The Unified Communications Administrator is a telecommunications specialist who will deal with the interfacing of communications equipment.  They will be required to research, analyse, design, test and evaluate network systems to ensure that the hospital has the best possible networked environment for efficient and effective technology usage.

On a day to day basis, the Unified Communications Administrator will work within the Technology Operations Management Section of Digital Technology Services to deploy new or replacement technology equipment.  A key function of this role is to provide support and assistance to Western Health (WH) staff who may encounter issues or problems and other similar tasks that arise from time to time.

As part of this role, there is a requirement to work through an on-call roster to provide after hour coverage as required.

Selection Criteria Essential: Are you eligible to work within Australia?
Essential: At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in a Senior telecommunications/PABX engineer role. A degree in a relevant field with subsequent relevant experience, and/or Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching/Cisco CCNP Collaboration.
Essential: Extensive demonstrated experience in VOIP/PABX/telephony infrastructure which must include: Cisco unified telephony equipment, Unify, Zoom,Crestron, Extron, AMX and other digital platforms.
Essential: Experience in the configuration and maintenance of networking/communications infrastructure, including the ability to support a variety of technologies
Essential: Experience with Rack layouts and design, Cisco NEXUS switches, wireless network, firewalls, DMZ, Radius incl 802.1x and Network Security Management
Essential: Knowledge of industry standards and government regulations relevant to data telecommunications / networking
Essential: An understanding of emerging technologies in the communications sphere and their potential commercial application
Essential: Demonstrated skills in Enterprise grade Network hardware/software, Protocols (TCP/IP/IPV6), Routing Protocols, LAN Protocols and Network Security
Essential: Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Essential: Sound commercial acumen and the ability to manage the day-to-day delivery of services through third party providers
Essential: The ability to lead the response to critical incidents driving service restoration and contributing significantly to the problem resolution process
Essential: Demonstrate personal drive and integrity by accepting personal responsibility for completion of work and exhibit effective prioritisation and time management skills to deliver agreed outcomes within set timeframes
Essential: A sound knowledge of service management principles and processes and relevant experience in the practical application of service management processes (ITIL) in the delivery of ICT Infrastructure services
Essential: Experience using and configuring processes within an IT System Management toolset with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following ITSM toolsets:
Essential: Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. With a demonstrated commitment to customer service
Essential: A high level of initiative, including the ability to formulate, develop and implement new ideas
