About the Role

The Footscray Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is seeking dynamic and committed Registered Nurses that are looking to start a nursing career in the specialised field of Emergency Nursing. Western Health offers a six month Emergency Department Discovery Program that enables the successful applicants to combine clinical experience with theoretical learning in an ED setting. In addition, there are paid study days, electronic work sheets and set clinical activities to facilitate theoretical learning, along with support from a dedicated education team to support your development. 

A nurse who successfully completes the Discovery Program will be educationally and clinically prepared to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care in affiliation with The University of Melbourne.

Skills & Experience

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
  • Has successful completed a Graduate Nurse Program
  • Possess excellent clinical and communication skills

Selection Criteria Essential: Must be eligible to work within Australia and hold current nursing registration with APHRA
Essential: Must have permanent residency in Australia
Essential: Must have completed a Graduate Nurse Program or equivalent.
Essential: Must have recent acute medical or surgical experience.
Desirable: Emergency experience advantage
Essential: Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster without limitations
Essential: Must have current immunisation record. ( Please check WH intranet site for New Staff and immunisation requirements).
