About the Role
- Full time hours (24 months limited tenure)
- Shifts Monday-Friday
- Day shifts only 0800 - 1800
The Clinical Nurse Unit Manager will provide clinical management and leadership to the nursing team and provide a professional clinical resource as well as quality improvements to nursing processes in the organisation. The role encompasses planning, evaluating current practices and implementing change, processes and services within the department. This role will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager of Ambulatory Cancer Services and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of a high standard of patient centred care and effective leadership of clinical standards and practice, within a quality and risk management framework.
The role of the Clinical Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for facilitating supportive treatments related to radiotherapy. This includes the administration of therapeutic treatments such as chemotherapy for combined modality patients, education of treatment side effects and strategies to manage side effects with the key focus areas.

Skills & Experience
To be successful for the role you will have high level nursing assessment skills and the ability to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment, as well as:
- Relevant nursing registration in an Australian state or territory
- Demonstrated previous experience in an oncology and or radiotherapy management role
- Extensive clinical skills and experience within oncology
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
- Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills
- Ability to effectively plan and manage, human and material resources
- Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a continuous improvement program
- Extensive post-graduate specialty nursing experience
- Demonstrated advanced planning and coordination skills in the management of daily workload
- Venipuncture
- Peripheral cannulation
- Central Venous access Device management
- Current Chemotherapy Competency
- Standard computer skills
Desirable academic achievements:
- Post graduate clinical or management qualifications will also be very highly regarded
- Experience as Associate Nurse Unit Manager
- Previous Nurse Unit Manager experience
