About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced nurse/s to join a dynamic and collaborative research team to conduct clinical trials for the Department of Intensive Care, Anaesthesia, Pain & Perioperative Medicine at Western Health.  We are interested in hearing from applicants with either an ICU or Anaesthesia nursing background.  You will be joining a team of critical care research nurses, operating predominantly across the two main campuses of Footscray & Sunshine Hospitals, servicing a 14-bed ICU and a 13-bed ICU respectively, as well as an entire Anaesthesia department. 

This is a unique opportunity to assist in research activity across a collaborative, multi-discipline research unit.  The successful applicant will be well supported, working with an experienced research manager and a team of excellent research nurses.  We strive to improve patient centred outcomes by conducting investigator led single-centre or multi-centre trials, as well as audits and industry sponsored pharmacuetical trials.  The research team provide 24hr support to facilitate conducting clinical trials across a population of critically unwell patients.  The successful applicant would be required to be available to be part of the on call roster. 

The Research Nurse/s will have responsibility for the delivery of direct and indirect clinical trial related care of patients and associated research activities to ensure a high quality service that meets the needs of patients and clients with adherence to legislative requirements of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Note for Guidance on Good Clinical Practice (CPMP/ICH/135/95), the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and applicable state/federal privacy laws.
