West Metro Covid graduate transition program
Would you like to participate in a program that will support you to transition to work within a hospital setting?
West Metro Health Services are partnering to offer a formal program to facilitate the transition of newly graduated and early career nurses into the profession and to optimise preparation for ongoing work within the acute care setting.
The program will include work within Covid Vaccination Hubs and a fixed term contract rotation into inpatient clinical settings at one of the West Metro Health Services.
Western Health will be coordinating the program with the majority of rotations occuring across Western Health sites, other Metro Health Services facilitating rotations include Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Childrens Hospital, Royal Womens Hospital and Mercy Werribee.
The program will be facilitated by a dedicated Graduate Coordinator linked with site clinical educators supporting your learning and identifying your education needs. Each program participant will rotate into inpatient clinical settings for 4 months with clinical rotations commencing July 2021, November 2021 and March 2022. On successful completion of the program, you will transition to an ongoing casual contract with Western health nurse bank.
To be eligible for this program, the following selection criteria needs to be met:
- employed as a Registered Nurse with Western Health in a Covid response role
- limited or no experience working in an acute care setting
- less than 3 years experience working as a Registered Nurse
- commitment to a 7 day rotating roster working 3 - 4 days per week
