About the Role
- Clinical Referral Nurse Cancer Services – Day Oncology Unit
- Permanent and Temporary hours available
- Shifts Monday-Friday
- Day shifts only 0800-1630/1730
Join a dynamic Oncology and Haematology team that is committed to delivering excellence in patient cancer care to a multicultural and diverse patient population in the west of Melbourne. Ambulatory Cancer Services at Western Health is inclusive of Sunshine Hospital’s Day Oncology unit, Radiation Therapy Centre, Sunbury Hospital and Oncology Hospital in the Home. Located at Sunshine Hospital, 1E is a 15 Chair Day Oncology Unit which operates Monday to Friday from 8.00am-5.30pm.
Skills & Experience
To be successful for the role you will have high level nursing assessment skills and the ability to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment, as well as:
- A proven track record in providing quality health service provision, outcomes and performance indicators
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a clinical oncology/haematology setting
- Competency in Chemotherapy administration
- Relevant Post Graduate qualifications or working towards
- Well-developed skills in cannulation and venepuncture
- Competency in managing Central Venous Access Devices – Ports and PICCs
- Passion about patient care and work well in a team
- Demonstrated highly effective relationship management skill
- Current driver’s license
Oncology specific Post Graduate qualifications are desirable and competencies in intravenous cannulation, central venous access and chemotherapy administration are also favourable.
