About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Speech Pathologist to join our dynamic and innovative Speech Pathology department as a senior clinician. This part time maternity leave backfill position will involve clinical leadership of acute services across Western Health.

Duties

  • Assessment and management of complex dysphagia and communication impairment within the acute setting
  • Team leadership, including promotion of team effectiveness and evidenced based patient care   
  • Supervision of Grade 1 and 2 staff
  • Clinical education
  • Leadership of a department portfolio
  • Ensure safe and high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies

Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in complex dysphagia and communication assessment and management within the acute setting
  • Strong leadership skills, including proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise staff and students
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement, clinical research and professional development of self and others
  • Eligibility for membership of SPA
