Position Summary

We are seeking a highly professional, self-motivated, Business Intelligence specialist to join the Monitoring and Performance (MaP) Reporting System team within Western Health. The team is responsible for the end-to-end development, delivery, and maintenance of reports and dashboards to support both the Administrative and Clinical functions of the organisation. Drawing from a wide range of source systems the development work primarily involves utilising the Microsoft BI stack to deliver the right information, to the right people, at the right time – and in the format they require.

The successful candidate will have excellent T-SQL skills and possess the ability to fine tune SQL scripts to ensure optimal performance is achieved. They will be comfortable working with complex datasets from a variety of different sources. Exposure to working with Cerner Millennium Electronic Medical Record data will also be highly regarded.


  • Meet with stakeholders to discuss requirements and gather clear specifications that incorporate all of the information required for development, including data definitions, business rules, reporting layout and functionality. Lead and/or participate in the entire project lifecycle including design, development, testing and deployment of solutions to meet the stakeholder’s requirements.
  • Present finished product to stakeholders and collate and action any feedback.
  • Create and maintain documentation to assist with on-going support of solutions.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and database development background, including substantial experience delivering Business Intelligence solutions.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with the Microsoft BI stack.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple and concurrent projects on time with a structured approach to problem resolution.
  • Possess professional standards with strong accuracy, attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Provide flexibility to work out of hours on occasion to meet project deadlines.
  • Up-to-date skillset backed up by continued professional development.
