About the Role

Western Health is seeking to appoint a new Head of Paediatrics to oversee the expansion of the paediatric service in-line with the opening of the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s at Sunshine Hospital. This beautiful brand new facility will support the provision of care to one of the fastest growing areas of Australia.  This is a very exciting opportunity for a dynamic, driven, effective, visionary leader.

As a full-time staff specialist, the Head of Paediatrics will join a senior leadership team within the Division of Women’s and Children’s services to:

  1. Provide leadership in ensuring the delivery of the highest quality paediatric care across both acute (inpatient) and ambulatory (specialist clinics) domains.
  2. Support strategies to enhance Western Health’s desire to provide exceptional training and experience in child health for trainees and medical students.
  3. Support and lead the development of and opportunities provided by the imminent paediatric services plan.

The position would be most suited to a general paediatrician with at least 5 years’ experience of high level child healthcare including inpatient and outpatient paediatrics, who has a demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, service expansion and training of medical students and junior medical staff.

The successful applicant would join Western Health at an exciting time as we move towards the development of a formal paediatric services plan that will drive the models of care that the children and families of the western suburbs of Victoria deserve.
