Position Summary

Seeking an experience Associate Midwife Unit Manager for our Maternity Service at Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s.  The role is permanent full/part-time, with the ability to work across all areas of the Midwifery continuum – Birthing, Maternity Assessment Centre and Maternity Wards.

The Associate Midwife Unit Manager, will demonstrate expert knowledge and skills while assuming a prominent management focus in the ward/unit, while contributing to the decisions that help shape our health service.  The role is an integral member of the ward/unit management team, and will assist the Midwife Unit Manager in the course of their duties to ensure provision of nursing/midwifery care that is excellent in quality and consistently patient centred, while achieving effective operational management of the clinical environment.

To be Successful in this Role you will

  • Manage the area as Midwife in Charge on a shift by shift basis, through all maternity areas - Birthing, Maternity Assessment Centre and Maternity Wards
  • Facilitate patient flow through areas
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary framework
  • Promote ongoing learning and education for all staff in the Unit
  • Obtain Level 3 in RANZCOG Fetal Surveillance Education Program and have prior experience in Discharge Examination of the Healthy Term Newborn.
