About the Role

Drug Heath Services is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide high quality clinical liaison support to the Emergency Department at Sunshine Hospital. This presents an exciting opportunity to deliver support to a rapidly growing unit, in a fast-paced work environment. Working as part of the Addiction Medicine Liaison Team, the AOD ED CNC will provide expert advice to Emergency Department staff in identifying and engaging patients presenting with substance use issues. This position will also require engaging patients in brief interventions, motivational enhancement, assessment and linkage across the spectrum of presenting AOD needs. Identification of service gaps, with the opportunity to develop and implement quality assurance projects will also form a key part of the CNC role in this space.

The successful candidate will have: high level written and verbal communication skills; a passion for working with drug and alcohol clients; a drive to ensure good patient outcomes for an often marginalised group; excellent engagement skills; experience working in acute health settings, as well with alcohol and other drug issues; a desire to role model high level nursing skills and support other staff to attain excellence in practice.
