About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an Infectious Diseases Physician to join Western Health to cover sabbatical leave from early March to early September 2018. The Infectious Diseases Unit is a vibrant, cohesive and active unit, dedicated to meeting the needs of this diverse population.

There is a 0.5 EFT position (35 hours per fortnight) in the Infectious Diseases service of Western Health, which is a part of the Division of Emergency, Medicine and Cancer Services. The appointment will involve participation in outpatient clinics, the inpatient ward service roster, consultative service and after hours on-call roster.

The Infectious Diseases Unit provides inpatient and ambulatory care to patients with infection related illness, as well as a consultative service to other units within the health service to assist in the management of infections. This service is provided across all Western Health campuses including out of hours. The service offers inpatient and consultation services physically located at Sunshine and Footscray Hospitals and outpatient clinics at Footscray Hospital. 

The successful applicant will have consultant experience in the areas described above.

The appointee will become part of our supportive team that fosters a culture of safety, excellence and patient focussed care. Familiarity with the Victorian Health system will be a distinct advantage and knowledge of the health context in the western suburbs of Melbourne is desirable.
