Position Summary

The Gastroenterology Service provides care across inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory settings, at Sunshine, Footscray and Sunbury Campuses. The scope of the Gastroenterology Service includes both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Inpatient services incorporate acute/chronic liver disease management. Weekly general outpatients and clinical/service meetings support the delivery of services to Western Health. The Unit is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, quality assurance activities and research.

We are seeking dynamic, collaborative and patient focused Gastroenterologist specialist physicians to join the Gastroenterology Unit casual bank. The roles will predominantly be to provide endoscopy services, but may also include outpatient clinics and inpatient care.

The role of the Consultant/Specialist is to provide high quality clinical care to the patients of Western Health services, to supervise and train Junior Medical Staff and support Western Health Strategic Priorities.

To be Successful in this Role you shall have:

  • FRACP qualification, with Gastroenterology specialisation
  • Current Australian medical registration
  • Conjoint committee accreditation for gastroscopy and colonoscopy
  • Current GESA colonoscopy re-certification certificate (or exemption if not eligible yet)
  • A commitment to the public health care sector
