Western Health currently has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Western Health’s Division of Aged Care and Subacute Services in the role of Operations Manager- Aged Care and Subacute Services.

The Division of Aged Care and Subacute Services provides quality health care for patients across acute and subacute aged care and rehabilitation services. Aged Care and Subacute Services play an integral role within the health care continuum, supporting patients to maximise their independence and functioning and, in doing so, minimise long-term health and community care needs. This diverse group of services is fundamental in promoting effective and seamless services across the care continuum.

Aged Care and Subacute Services include the inpatient Acute Aged Care, Ortho-Geriatric, Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and Transition Care Services. To ensure that patients have appropriate and timely access to these services, the Division also provides a Subacute and Nonacute Assessment and Pathways (SNAP) service to facilitate pathways to the right care setting.

The Operations Manager is integral to the leadership team within the Division and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of Best Care and effective and efficient operational, financial and clinical governance in their designated portfolios.

To be successful, you will need to have a proven track record of effective management in large complex health services and a passion and commitment for the delivery of high quality, safe patient centred care. 

  The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure that the Division has visibility of its performance against clinical and operational key performance indicators, monitor performance and identify areas for review and analysis, and lead implementation of strategies to ensure the Division achieves its key fiscal and operational deliverables.
  • Systematically review models of care and service delivery within the Division of Acute Aged Care and Subacute Services and oversee the development and implementation of services which are safe, effective, co-ordinated, and responsive and ensure that the patient is at the centre of their care.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Division's Quality Plan and the achievement of significant standards of performance benefiting the entire organisation and utilise 'Best Care' principles to assist in developing strategies that support quality assurance for the Division
  • In partnership with the Division’s Management Team develop a sustainable and proactive approach to engaging patients, families, carers and the wider Western Health community in providing feedback to inform the development of the Division's Quality Plan.
  • Oversee the implementation of a Divisional communication strategy, aligned with Western Health's overarching communication framework, to promote 'Best Care' principles across the Division.
  • In collaboration with the Division's Quality Manager, Clinical Managers and the Western Health Patient Liaison representatives, assist in developing responses to complex complaints and monitor all compliments and complaints to ensure that these inform the Division's quality improvement strategies.

Selection Criteria Essential: Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an allied health professional or a registered nurse
Essential: Extensive clinical and management experience within a large, complex healthcare or other relevant organisation, preferably at a senior level
Desirable: Relevant postgraduate management qualification, preferably at a Masters level or working towards.
