The Clinical Response and Support Midwife (CRSM) is a midwife with advanced skills in professional leadership, communication and collaboration, who provides clinical and mentoring support to midwives and doctors working within Women’s and Children’s services.
This role is primarily aimed at supporting shared learning and the professional development of midwives and doctors, to translate evidence-based, woman-centred care into everyday clinical practice.
This role is also integral in supporting the clinical response and management of the deteriorating woman and/or newborn, with the CRSM being a key member of the clinical code response team at the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital (JKWCH).
In collaboration with the maternity senior leadership team, the clinical education team and the clinical shift leaders the CRSM will work to ensure a positive experience of maternity care, with optimal clinical outcomes. Through positive role-modelling and clinical support, the CRSM will work with front-line clinicians to ensure that care provided is woman focused, and respects the rights, needs and expectations of the childbearing woman and her family.
