Significant investment in Western Health has seen the expansion of the Adult Emergency Department (ED) and the opening of a new Paediatric ED, an Adult and Paediatric Fast-Track, Short Stay Unit, Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Hub and Rapid Assessment Discharge Unit in Sunshine Hospital. You may also be aware of the $1.5 billion new construction of the Footscray Hospital.

We have expanded our emergency team across a number of our key services within our new and improved clinical spaces to be able to better support our community. This growth has created new vacancies for Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our multidisciplinary team.

As the EMH Team Leader – Assertive Linkages portfolio holder you will aim to promote a collaborative and holistic approach to caring for Mental Health consumers during and after their time at Sunshine & Footscray Hospitals Emergency Departments. You will also assist our Mental Health consumers to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system.

You will make an impact through:

  • Practicing clinical emergency mental health nursing at an advanced level
  • Co-ordination of exceptional patient centred care
  • Influencing and facilitating system improvements
  • Improving patient outcomes

You will strengthen partnerships between:

  • The consumer and Sunshine Emergency Department (SHED)
  • Emergency Mental Health (EMH) and SHED
  • Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) and SHED
  • ACE Team and SHED

To be Successful for this Role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or Allied Health
  • Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or related Allied Health field
  • Minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience in a related field
  • Ability to work a rotating roster AM & PM shifts over 7 days
  • A passion for providing Best Care to all of our patients across the continuum
