Position Summary

We are seeking permanent part time and casual bank staff to work in Western Health Emergency Departments at Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown campuses. The clerical responsibilities in EDs includes communicating with patients, family/visitors and colleagues; entering and maintaining data; updating and maintaining patient medical records; facilitating bed allocations and patient movement throughout the organisation; as well as providing general administrative assistance such as answering phones, filing, responding to queries, etc. There are six clerical roles in ED – clerks will be incrementally trained in all roles over a period of time. 

The Emergency Departments require clerical support 24/7, as such there are 3 clerical shifts per day: AM 0700 to 1500 or 0730 to 1530, PM 1500 to 2300 or 1530 to 2330, and Night Duty 2300 to 0700. Successful applicants will be available to work either permanent nights or a combination of these shifts.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Ability and willingness to work at Sunshine, Footscray and/or Williamstown Emergency Departments
  • Ability and willingness to work AM, PM and ND shifts (see details above)
  • Well-developed communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise duties, work under pressure, and ability to adapt and be flexible to change
  • Availability to work mostly day and afternoon shifts including weekends across WH campuses.

Orientation and training will be provided during business hours, Monday to Friday.
