Position Summary

Maternity Services within Western Health are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Undergraduate Students of Midwifery (RUSOMs) to join the midwifery team. Opportunities are currently available for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students of Midwifery. This position is fixed term until December 2023 and you will be joining a specific maternity services unit for the duration of your contract with the possibility of extension until you gain your registration.

RUSOM’s work as part of the healthcare team, under the delegation and supervision of a registered midwife, assisting the midwifery team to deliver high quality mother and baby care interventions and activities. This role will provide you with financial assistance as you complete your midwifery studies and assist Western Health with the provision of Best Care.

To be eligible for this position you must be currently enrolled in a University course that leads to registration as a midwife in Australia either through a direct entry degree or combined nursing & midwifery degree.

To be eligible for this position you will have:

  • Currently enrolled at a university and undertaking midwifery studies
  • Registered with AHPRA as a student midwife
  • Completed at least 12 months of a BMid program OR 24 months of a BN/BMid dual degree
  • Able to commit to a minimum of one shift per fortnight
  • Able to work rostered shifts
