Position Summary

The Western Continence Clinic is a specialist interprofessional clinical service within the Chronic and Complex Care Division. The clinic provides comprehensive assessment of bladder, bowel and pelvic floor dysfunction in adults. It also provides specialised investigations including bladder ultrasound, uroflowmetry and video urodynamics. This service provides time-limited, goal-orientated care to patients that reside in our community. The aim of the service is to facilitate recovery, regain and/or maintain optimal function. Self-management is promoted whenever possible.

The successful applicant must be an experienced Continence CNC with highly developed clinical skills and experience in the area of continence assessment and management of men and women. The role is well supported by a committed expert interdisciplinary team and will initially involve duties at Sunshine Hospital, with the flexibility to work from all Western Health sites.

As the Continence Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will:

  • Have expert clinical skills in the assessment and management of bladder, bowel and pelvic floor dysfunction.
  • Develop individualised continence management plans based on best practice in collaboration with clients (and/or carers).
  • Monitor and evaluate client outcomes to ensure service delivery reflects community expectations and best meets the needs of the clients 
  • Promote excellence in clinical practice and ensure good practice is consistently reflected in the provision of nursing care 
  • Ensure that services provided meet the needs and preferences of clients, their families and carers by implementation of quality improvement activities which evaluate the care provided. 
  • Have demonstrated experience in providing clinical leadership within a service/organisation with a commitment to self and staff professional development
  • Contribute to educational and quality-based activities within the service.
  • Be computer literate and/or have the ability to learn WH patient management systems.
