Position Summary

Western Health Rehabilitation Medicine Unit has a 30 bed rehabilitation specific ward at the Sunshine Hospital, specialising in Neurological, Orthopaedic, Amputee and reconditioning rehabilitation streams.  An Early Supported Discharge (ESD) program consisting of 10 virtual beds provides a rehabilitation in the home model targeting patients with newly diagnosed neurological conditions.  

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Medical Officers interested in pursuing further training as a Registrar in Rehabilitation Medicine. We are offering 1 registrar training opportunity at Western Health for 2024.  The registrar will be actively supported by 4 rehabilitation medicine physicians in the department of rehabilitation medicine. 

The position is for a 12 month placement looking after inpatients on the Rehabilitation ward at Sunshine hospital, in combination with rehabilitation consults on the acute wards and outpatient clinics commencing in early February 2024. Western Health will consider Full-Time or Job Share applications for this role along with 6 or 12 month contract options for the right applicants.

To be Successful in this Role you

  • Must be registered with AHPRA    
  • Must hold an appropriate employment visa if not an Australian Citizen or Resident.
  • Must be eligible for an advanced training position in rehabilitation medicine, or a provisional advanced training position with RACP.
