Position Summary |
The Women’s Therapeutic Day Program is seeking applicants for a dual role position comprising an AOD Clinician / Clinical Consultant. This position encompasses two dynamic roles. If you like variety and are passionate about working with client’s to provide AOD support this role will enable you to build on your clinical skills.
Firstly, the Women’s Therapeutic Day program requires a highly skilled Drug & Alcohol Clinician to work as a member of a small multidisciplinary team incorporating a feminist framework empowering women to make informed and positive lifestyle changes. The team works collaboratively to offer a therapeutic environment for women to explore, understand and make changes to their identified substance use.
The Women’s Therapeutic Day Program’s model of care is evidence based, holistic, person centred and recovery focused. Program content includes groups on life skills and relapse prevention, harm minimisation, weekend planning and review, women’s health and referral to additional supports if identified. The program runs for six weeks.
The Women’s Therapeutic Day Program foster a culture of hope, empowerment and values respectful and therapeutic relationships. The program builds on the strengths and resources of individuals to promote autonomy, self-determination and awareness of rights and responsibilities. Service provision is guided by the aspirations, priorities, needs and preferences of each woman in the program. The team is innovative, supportive and provides an opportunity to work with women in their recovery journey.
The additional component to the position requires the successful candidate to perform the duties of an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Clinician/Clinical Consultant; this role operates in partnership with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Child Protection (CP) branch. The AOD Clinical Consultant role is an exciting opportunity to build/develop court writing skills, support capacity building within DFFH workforce around responses to AOD issues, complete AOD assessments with family members, and providing AOD education and support within a non-judgemental space. The role operates from a Best Interest framework which stipulates that the best interests of the child must always be paramount; this involves exploring parent’s/guardian’s insight into impacts of substance use towards parenting capacity. This position requires the individual to work well independently, provide AOD consults and training to department staff, and write AOD reports for court.
