Position Summary

Western Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) Manager to lead its well-established caseload program.  MGP is a continuity of care program for all risk pregnancies, and includes speciality programs such as homebirth and Galinjera.  Galinjera is a word from the Wemba Wemba language group that means ‘to come together and connect with love’. The Galinjera Team provides maternity care to First Nations women and families and are committed to the provision of culturally safe care, working towards equity in maternity health outcomes and ensuring families feel safe navigating the hospital system. MGP also prioritises care for those who may be young, planning a VBAC, motivated for a low intervention birth, living with a disability, seeking refuge, have a history of trauma or perinatal loss or experiencing social or mental health concerns.

As a leader of the midwifery team, the MGP Manager is at the forefront of the provision of high-quality consumer focused care. Working with a team of committed health professionals and alongside women, birthing persons and families, this role forms part of a well-supported leadership team.  Within this key management role, you will operationally be leading, developing and overseeing a range of innovative changes which align to the organisation's strategic priorities as well as the Women's and Children's Division business plan.

This role is part-time predominately based at Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Sunshine Campus.

To be Successful in this Role, you will:

  • Be an experienced senior midwife, with previous management experience
  • Demonstrate understanding of cultural safety and the issues affecting the health outcomes of First Nations women and families
  • Demonstrate your ability to lead, manage and motivate a large, diverse team
  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in midwifery and membership of relevant professional body
  • Have experience in key operational leadership domains: finance, activity & access, quality & safety and workforce management
  • Be a strategic thinker and collaborator, with the ability to develop positive working relationships
  • Be driven by your desire to make a difference to the lives of birthing women, people and their families
